Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park is a nearly 3,500-sq.-mile wilderness recreation area atop a volcanic hot spot.
- Location: Wyoming, with some parts in Montana and Idaho
- Created: March 1, 1872
- Established: For preservation of the geysers and hot springs of the region, and to protect the wildlife that inhabit the park
- Primary features: Canyons, alpine rivers, lush forests, hot springs and geysers
Fun Facts
- Old Faithful is the park's most famous geyser.
- The park is home to hundreds of animal species, including bears, wolves, bison, elk and antelope.
- Yellowstone was the World's first national park.
